Submission

Q: how do I mention, that my paper is for a special issue?
A: Please mention during the submission in the cover letter section, that the paper is submitted to special issue XYZ. Since we receive many submissions (regular or special issues), we recommend not to write a cover letter. Just mention in this section, that your submission is ment for which special issue.

Q: I have found some mistakes; have made some changes my submitted paper. Can I resubmit it by mail?
A: Yes, send it to the Asst/EIC and inform us, if you made minor or major changes.

Q: I did not mention that my paper is for a Special Issue
A: Please inform the Asst/EIC that your paper is for which Special Issue. We appreciate it, if you mention your submission number.

Q: I get this erromessage "We are sorry, but there is a problem with the PDF file(s) named nameofyourfile.pdf. Our system cannot process this file. The most common reason for this is badly embedded fonts or Type 3 fonts (which we do not support at the moment). If possible, please change the font settings and/or re-distil this PDF to a lower Adobe Acrobat version and try again. Read More ..."
A: redistill the pdf without Type 3 fonts and make a new submission to manuscriptcentral

 

Review process

Q: What's the timetable of the review process?
A: You find the timetable on the webpage of the running Special Issues. Please keep in mind, that the dates (review results/final copydeadline) are not fixed! List of Special Issues

Q: When I ask for the current state of the review process, I always get the information, that it is still in review process. Why could you not more precise (e.g. results of the yet submitted reviews)?
A: We cannot disclose the submitted reviews until all reviews have been submitted and the decission is approved.

Q: The review results are overdue. When will they be disclosed?
A: As mentioned above, the dates of review results/final copydeadline differ. You may ask the Associate Editor is/are the Guest Editor/s of the corresponding Special Issue when the results will be disclosed.

Q: Could you tell me the name of the Associate Editor? I want contact them.
A: The Associate Editor is/are the Guest Editor/s of the corresponding Special Issue.

Q: could you name the reviewers of a Special Issue
A: Please ask the Guest Editor(s) of the Special Issue. List of Special Issues

 

Revision

Q: My paper was rejected. Can I resubmit it again?
A: Sure. But keep in mind, that your resubmission is treated as a new regular submission. Please upload your paper without any comments/answers to the reviewer/author. We cannot promise that the same reviewers are reviewing your paper again.

Q: Is there a time limit for submitting the minor/major revision?
A: Yes, you have 31 days after notification to submit the revision. If you need more time to prepare the revision, just inform the Asst/EIC. After the revision option expires, you can only submit the revision as a new submission.

Q: I'm not able to submit my revision. The system says, that the revision option expired. Can I submit the revision as a new submission?
A: You have received severes reminders, that the revision option expires soon. If your revision option has expired, please ask the Asst/EIC for an extension.

Q: My paper was evaluated with "major/minor revision". What are my next steps?
A: Read carefully the review comments and consider them in your revision. You have 31 days after notification for submitting the revision in manuscriptcentral. If you need more time to prepare the revision, just inform the Asst/EIC. After the revision option expires, you can only submit the revision as a new submission, which will be treated as a new regular submission!

Q: while I'm submitting a revision, it takes quit a long time for uploading.
A: Several reasons. 1.) a server problem, just restart uploading. 2.) your document is too big. If your were not able to continue, delete the browser cache and cookies and restart your browser.

 

Publication Packet

Q: How long do I have time to prepare the publication packet?
A: You have the time, that you need for preparing the publication packet. The sooner you submit the packet, the sooner the Special Issue can be published.

Q: Do I have to include a Wordfile and LaTeX-source?
A: No, only one of them

Q: Why should I put a scan of the singed copyright form in the publication packet?
A: This guarantees a faster publication flow.

Q: Do I need to sent the copyrightform to ACM?
A: Yes.

 

Publication

Q: When will my paper published?
A: After you have submitted the copyright form to ACM and the publication packet to the ASST/EIC, ACM will contact you for proof reading. After that, your paper will be published in the next issue. If you have submitted your publication packet but did not send the singed copyright form, your paper will be never published.

Q: When will my paper exactly published?
A: After submitting the publication packet, the whole production process depends on the producers production flow. Therefore an exact time of publication canot be provided from our side. Questions regarding the postacceptance production process should be addressed to the Managing Editor Joanne Pello

Q: What should be to whom submitted?
A: The publication packet to the ASST/EIC, the copyrightform to ACM. Please put also a scan of the signed copyright form in the publication packet.

Q: I have submitted my publication packet and my status is still on "Awaiting Production Checklist". Why? And is everything in order?
A: After you have submitted the publication packet to the ASST/EIC, the packet will be forwarded to the publisher. The publisher will take care of the whole publication process.

Q: I have submitted the publication packet and the copyright form to the EIC/ASST quite a time ago. But why is my paper not published yet?
A: If your paper is not yet published, there were several reasons:

A: Please keep CE(S)T in mind. We will answer mails within 48 hours. Delays may caused by weekends, (public) holydays and illness.
